Update on in person meetings

5/18/2020

Given Gov. DeWine's changes in covid-19 guidelines, here is an update from our practice. First, we are all feeling frustrated with having to abide by restrictions. We all who work at IPH miss seeing each other in person. We very much miss seeing you in our comfortable offices for face to face meetings.

Current guidelines state that if we are to return to in person meetings, we must keep at least 6 feet distance from one another, wear a mask at all times, and sanitize appropriately between each client. Despite tremendously missing our office space, and seeing you in person, there is not a perfect way to accomplish these mandates. It would be difficult to maintain six feet of distance from one another at all times, or to disinfect every surface or toy touched between each session. It would also be uncomfortable to wear a mask the length of the session, or feel comfortable with providers wearing a mask at all times.  So much gets communicated through facial expressions, that wearing a mask may impact the quality of therapy. Furthermore, wearing masks, constant sanitizing, and worry about getting sick may turn the therapy experience into an anxiety provoking one.

Thus, telehealth appears to be the safest, most effective way to engage in therapy currently. We hope this will change in the future with the help of a vaccine or testing, but we can't predict the timeline of this. This isn't optimal for any of us, and we acknowledge and grieve together the loss of our former ability to freely meet with each other. Especially given this challenging time, we wish we could safely meet in person. We want to be there for you in a way that will not cause harm. As each clinician with IPH is an independent contractor, please check in with her/him about the best way to proceed. Please call our admin as well with questions at our main number (216) 801-4656 or email us at [email protected].

We deeply appreciate your patience and are humbled to partner with you through this historic event. Be safe, all! We will get through this!

Update on Covid-19 restrictions

4/30/2020

We want to take a moment to update you on the evolving covid-19 situation related to our practice. Your physical and mental health have been and will continue to be our highest priority. Although Gov. Dewine discussed opening up businesses on May 4, he is urging companies to keep people working at home that can do so. This means that most of our providers will continue to engage in telehealth with some exceptions. Please ask your individual provider about how this relates to your care. Please call our admin as well with questions at our main number (216) 801-4656 or email us at [email protected].

We thank you for your patience during this uncertain time. We wish everyone good health!

Mental health visits using telehealth through May 1, 2020

3/27/2020

At Integrative Psychological Health, we are continuing to provide needed therapy services while doing our part to end the COVID-19 pandemic. We understand the concerns of the community during this time of stress and we are committed to being available to respond to your needs as the COVID-19 situation develops.

In March of 2020 Governor Mike DeWine put in place a stay-at-home order for the citizens of Ohio. This order requires workers to stay at home as much as possible in order to reduce the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. For healthcare providers, including therapists, we have been asked to work via telehealth when possible. This order has been extended through May 1st.  Out of regard for this order, and in hopes of slowing the spread of COVID-19 we will not have in-person sessions during this period, instead using telehealth to provide psychotherapy.

Please know that we remain committed to your health and will be fully available remotely. We will continue to see patients remotely using video conferencing equipment, telephones and other applications. Our phone number and email remain fully operational and are checked every day, so please feel free to call or write if you have any questions or concerns about how to use these Telehealth applications. All you will need is a phone, smart device, or a computer with a microphone and speaker, and a Wi-Fi connection.  We have established safe, confidential and appropriate ways of managing virtual sessions. Step by step directions will be given to you by your individual provider for video sessions.

The current pandemic and the necessary steps to fight it are taking a significant toll on our psychological health. The potential physical threat to ourselves and loved ones, the economic stress and outside imposed isolation all cause us to need therapy services more than ever. We understand this. We encourage you to reach out to us for virtual appointments, maintain connections with your friends and loved ones, and utilize community mental health resources.

We understand that some of our patients may not be familiar with or comfortable using telehealth for appointments and would prefer to meet face to face.  We apologize to you for this and feel likewise. We also would prefer to meet in person. This unprecedented situation has made this option unsafe. We are committed to keeping you, your families and friends, as well as our providers safe.  Your providers are dedicated to your continued treatment and will continue to virtually meet with you from the privacy of your home.

As the course of COVID-19 is uncertain, we will continue to monitor the news and provide you information as we receive it.  Information about COVID-19 may be found at:

We care very much for our community and are doing our best to care for our patients' needs during this time. We have written articles with coping strategies for dealing with current stress, published on our blog. You are welcome to read these and share freely.

Thank you for your understanding, and for your support. We will continue to be here for you during this difficult time. If you have any questions, please call our office at 216-801-4656 or email us at [email protected].
